Planning Your Patagonia Experience
Below you will find a general overview of seasons, travel prep, and costs.
We look forward to speaking with you about personalized details and options.
TRavel OVERVIEW
When to Visit
The fishing season in Chile and Argentina runs from November through April.
The spring weeks before New Years consistently fish well with wild flowers blanketing the banks. The peak summer months of January and February see warm days, plenty of terrestrials and fat trout. When the leaves start to change in late March and April, we often target small streams for large trophy opportunities.
What to Bring
We provide a comprehensive packing list prior to departure.
Guests carry their own rods, waders, and other fishing gear. We supply all flies and terminal tackle. Dress is casual and the summer weather unpredictable. Good medical facilities can be found throughout Patagonia, but if you need any special medications please be sure to bring it along.
Getting Here
Flights are straight-forward with easy connections to North America and Europe. Even booking last minute trips and flights is generally not a problem.
Guests to Chile arrive and depart via: Balmaceda (BBA), Puertto Montt (PMC), or Chaiten (WCH). Each require a connecting flight through Santiago (SCL). If routing through Argentina, the flights are via Bariloche (BRC) or Esquel (EQS) with a connecting flight in Buenos Aires (EZE or AEP).
We have support persons in each of these cities who will make necessary arrangements and transfers upon your request.
Most international travelers do not require an advance visa for travel to Chile or Argentina. Time zones are nearly the same as the continental USA. We work with an excellent travel agent if you’d like assistance with flight arrangements.
Trip Duration and Costs
We set a base price of US$ 8,950/person for two or more anglers traveling together on a private 10 night/9 day trip.
The trip itinerary and duration are custom designed based on your input and we regularly arrange longer and shorter travel experiences. Customization factors such as duration and number of participants may influence the base price.
The base price includes private guides and staff, ground transportation and boats, meals, lodging, fishing permits, flies, terminal tackle, soft drinks, beer, and very good wines. The base price does not include items such as international airfare, personal and trip insurance, visas, restaurant meals in town (should you choose) and gratuities.
Once we have finalized an itinerary with you, we will forward an invoice and request a 50%, non-refundable advance payment to hold your reservation. Payment in full due at least 120 days prior to departure. All payments are made via our USA office.
Angler Numbers
These private trips are designed for individuals, couples, friends or family traveling together. Most tend to have between one and four anglers. Upon request, we will accommodate larger groups of six to eight persons traveling together. If you wish to travel solo with a guide and crew, not a problem. We will find a trip that fits your travel style.
